My Art
I am drawn to places that evoke the past, some are well known, others less so, but epitomise archetypal memories of places we have been and remember from our own pasts.
How we live has moved on but a working harbour, an old barn, an ancient bridleway or an abandoned pier, speak of long relationships with place, with land and sea and speak about both change and continuity.
My finished images typically combine impressionistic effects and expressive mark-making with more detailed depictions. My drawings seek to capture a place with fluidity and empathy.

About Me
Rowena Millard
I didn't think that my life would come to be about painting - but it is.

I felt my career, enjoyable and challenging though it was, had come to dominate my life. So, took a step back, initally to be free-lance. Then I started to draw before beginging to explore colour and light.
Now, I paint much of the time - the rewards of creativity bring me joy.
