Another trip out on a cold winter day. I stood in the shelter of the old wall to capture this and worked on the painting back in the studio. It was one of those stunningly bright December days, with the blue sky making the Forth unusally blue. The recent tracks from turning vehicles set off the colours of the earth in the foreground.
 
The remains of the old pier are where ferries used to land from Edinburgh, back before the Forth Bridge was built and the railway took over.
